“This project at 34th Avenue and Victoria Drive in Vancouver is on one hand  a response to the views of the city from this neighbourhood.  Viewed closer we see people looking at each other and reflects upon the culture of online social interaction. The figures within the piece are looking at each other from afar through binoculars. The binoculars seem to me, a metaphor for how we interact online. We view people and their lives from a safe distance whether it’s by way of binoculars, computers or smart phones until we feel comfortable enough to reach out and engage each other. “
